l love the short poignant poems and how the book is divided into two opposites - eclipse and illumination. This is supposed to show the author's journey. I really liked that concept. I also think the photography successfully captured the mood of the poems. Just loved the book! I was so moved by the author's journey.

If this is your first foray into the world of Photopoetry, then you're in luck, since there is no better introduction than Alene Sen's "Rainbows in the Night: Poems." The combination of words and images is intoxicating, as you share the laughs, joys and pains (with the occasional tear) of Alene's heartfelt words. Within these pages, the poet bares her soul, and we, the reader, are richer for it. Her raw, unfiltered words grip you, leaving you no choice but to follow Alene on her journey. And it is a journey worth pursuing. Highly recommended!

I really needed this book. I have been going through a terrible divorce and was feeling lost and depressed. This book lifted me in unexpected ways. Somehow, I didn't feel so alone. They say sometimes a book finds its reader. This book found me. I am so glad I picked it up.

I am truly blown away at the quality of this book. Right out of the gate, the book looks and FEELS great! But the real quality is not in the physicality of the book itself… it is what’s inside! Each well thought out, perfectly written poem is paired with a picture that suits the poem perfectly… all of the photos in this book are original and taken by the author themselves, I am truly impressed. Exceeded all of my expectations with the book, you will not be disappointed!!

Alene Sen is brilliant! Her book is intelligently written. Alene invites us to go with her on a journey to the depths of despair, all the way to the peaks of enlightenment. Her words are heartfelt and we cannot help but feel her pain and suffering. She guides us through a maze of emotions until we find joy and acceptance. Her resilience is inspiring. Her book needs to be read by everyone!
~Patrice L, Canada, from Amazon
I gladly give five stars and high praise as Alene Sen’s Rainbows in the Night is a beautiful collection of poems to read and digest, and absolutely savour! As I turned every page, I was both visually and emotionally moved and my interest was captivated. I found her stunning and poignant photographs held me in a state of calm and serenity, which truly enhanced the beauty of each poem for me as I absorbed her every word. I was, equally, enthralled by the depth of her sincerity, honesty and grace with which she had written every poem and from the first poem to the last, I was impressed by her eloquence. I found her writing to be so intuitive and humbling, that her poems truly resonated and they elicited many unexpected moments of emotional clarity and valuable insights. Her poetry may be her self-proclaimed journey of self-discovery, enlightenment and emotional healing, but it is a journey that is so relatable and profound! Reading this beautiful book was a real blessing as it ignited a desire for my own self-reflection. In a nutshell, Rainbows in the Night is a brilliant collection of poetry that is emotionally stirring, thought provoking, and inspirational and definitely a ‘Gem’ of a book to read through!!! and reread when your spirit needs a lift.

Very nice poem. Finished reading as soon as I got it. Feel sad and happy at the same time. Sometimes I am sad because what happened in reality. And sometimes I am happy because of wishful thinking or just be happy because of the weather or whatever. Not everyone has the time or courage or ability to write poems! I will this book again for sure.

With the power of words, she found rays of light to discover strength, acceptance, hope, gratitude and joy. Highly recommended for a deeply enlightening experience!

Sadness, fatigue, fear, shame, guilt, pain. We are surrounded by such things all the time, and it is hard to face them alone. With this book, along with the sounds, lights, and images of English, I traced various emotions with my finger, and realized that even those negative emotions contain the strength to live. It also taught me that the impossible is connected to the possible. Whether by chance or by fate, a rainbow appeared on the page as I was reading this book.

Raw emotion! I highly recommend this book of poetry and photography. It is a glimpse into raw emotion that is so difficult to capture. Brilliantly crafted photography and illustrations. I heard a voice that is in all of us that is rarely captured in poetry. Much respect!

One is almost caught breathless by Alene Sen’s raw honesty and arresting imagery that potently captures the depth, breadth, and volatility of human loss and, with the power of the word, healing and light – indeed, rainbows in the night! Congratulations, Alene, on a beautifully produced book – itself an experience of darkness dissolving into the light.

alene sen’s rainbows in the night is a collection of vulnerable moments. pain, anger, anxiety, regret, hope. feelings we all experience but often find too difficult to confront. sometimes feeling like an internal monologue of things we wish we had said in the moment. a striking collection that explores difficult themes but is ultimately about resiliency and recovery.
