An enchanting collection of poems and original photographs by the author. Through poetry, Alene expresses resilience as she faced dark moments of pain, guilt, shame, despair and depression. With the power of words, she found rays of light to discover strength, acceptance, hope, gratitude and joy. Highly recommended for a deeply enlightening experience!

Sadness, fatigue, fear, shame, guilt, pain. We are surrounded by such things all the time, and it is hard to face them alone. With this book, along with the sounds, lights, and images of English, I traced various emotions with my finger, and realized that even those negative emotions contain the strength to live. It also taught me that the impossible is connected to the possible. Whether by chance or by fate, a rainbow appeared on the page as I was reading this book.

I have followed Alene's Haiku and was eager to pick up her book of Poetry. I was not expecting this and was in awe. She captured authentic emotions with her words and well placed photography. I recommend this book for both men and women. This book of poetry and photography took me on a journey of all the emotions that relationships can provide including pain, happiness, perseverance, and lastly hope. I found myself rooting for her. Well done!

This book, combining introspective poems with stunning black and white photos, is a moving work of art. A creative interplay of word, metaphor and image that is personal yet universal. A journey. A true original.

Raw emotion! I highly recommend this book of poetry and photography. It is a glimpse into raw emotion that is so difficult to capture. Brilliantly crafted photography and illustrations. I heard a voice that is in all of us that is rarely captured in poetry. Much respect!

One is almost caught breathless by Alene Sen’s raw honesty and arresting imagery that potently capture the depth, breadth, and volatility of human loss and, with the power of the word, healing and light – indeed, rainbows in the night! Congratulations, Alene, on a beautifully produced book – itself an experience of darkness dissolving into the light.
~ Marian K, Librarian, Canada
alene sen’s rainbows in the night is a collection of vulnerable moments. pain, anger, anxiety, regret, hope. feelings we all experience but often find too difficult to confront. sometimes feeling like an internal monologue of things we wish we had said in the moment. a striking collection that explores difficult themes but is ultimately about resiliency and recovery.
